MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. is back in the Philippines after his one-day work visit to the United Arab Emirates, Malacañang announced on Wednesday.

The President landed in Manila around 10 a.m, the Palace said.

In a statement, Marcos said albeit short, his visit to the UAE was "highly productive" as he met with UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

"During [our meeting], I expressed the appreciation of the Philippines for UAE Government’s care and respect for the Filipino community in the UAE," he said.

The President said Sheikh Al Nahyan also commended the Filipino people for their contributions towards UAE’s development.

The work visit was part of the commemoration of the 2 countries' 50 years of "very strong and friendly" bilateral ties.

"I look forward to the implementation of several bilateral agreements in culture, energy transition, legal cooperation, artificial intelligence and digital economy, the improvement of government activities, visa waiver for holders of diplomatic, special, and official passports, and investment cooperation," he said.

Marcos said he has invited the UAE President to visit the Philippines in the coming months "to continue our dialogue and to explore further areas of cooperation."
