Mark Demayo, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — The Bureau of Corrections has agreed to the House Quad Committee&#x27;s request to temporarily transfer alleged Customs fixer Mark Taguba to its detention facility due to &quot;perceived security threats.&quot;The BuCor said Director General Gregorio Pio Catapang Jr., with the guidance of Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla, has allowed &quot;Taguba to be [put in] the custody of the House Sergeant-at-Arms subject to existing protocols and guidelines.&quot; In the Quad Comm&#x27;s hearing on Thursday, the mega panel voted to request Tagubas transfer to the House detention facility.Abang Lingkod Party-list Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano, a Quad Comm co-chair, moved to have Taguba transferred to House custody until the completion of its investigation or &quot;until the perceived threat is fully eliminated.&quot;Taguba appeared before the House hearing turning emotional as he maintained his innocence and denied involvement in drug smuggling.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2024/11/28/quad-comm-seeks-house-detention-for-alleged-customs-fixer-over-security-threat-0833">READ: Quad comm seeks to detain Customs &#x27;fixer&#x27; Mark Taguba over alleged security threat</a></div>The 33-year-old was convicted by a Manila court for the P6.4-billion shabu shipment from China discovered in Valenzuela in 2017.Earlier this month, the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 46 sentenced Taguba and co-accused Eirene Mae Tatad and Dong Yi Shen Xi to reclusion perpetua for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.They were also ordered to pay a fine of P500,000.Last September, Taguba and several others were also convicted by another Manila court for violation of the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.They were sentenced to reclusion perpetua and ordered to pay a total fine of P150 million.
