MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday said that she did not regret revealing an alleged kill plot against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., saying that it was better for her political foes to know that she “will not die in vain.”

Duterte earlier said that she had arranged for President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., First Lady Liza Marcos, and Speaker Ferdinand Martin Romualdez to be killed should an alleged kill plot against her succeed.

“No… Buti na yung alam nila na kapag namatay ako, I will not die in vain,” Duterte told reporters when asked if she regretted her earlier pronouncements as these led the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to start investigations against her.

“I’m at peace with whatever happens to me,” she said.

“I have already accepted that whatever happens to me, that is God’s purpose for my life,” she said.

Duterte said that while she had expected to be the target of alleged political mudslinging in the run-up to the 2028 presidential elections, she did not foresee the “entire government” supposedly being used against her.

“Alam ko simula pa lang. Wala lang din sa akin yun kasi lahat naman puwede tumakbong presidente,” she said.

“Ang hindi ko lang inexpect na gagamitin mo yung buong gobyerno para sirain yung isang tao,” she said.

The Vice President said that she would announce if she would run for the highest-elected post in the Philippines by the end of 2026.
