MANILA — The House of Representatives on Thursday issued a "manifesto" to express its "full support" to President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. following lawmakers' visit to the Palace the previous day amid the political turmoil between the administration and Duterte allies.

In a statement, House Speaker Martin Romualdez vowed to use the extent of their mandate to" thwart any attempts to destabilize the government and undermine the Chief Executive’s leadership."

"We categorically condemn any attempts to destabilize the government or subvert the administration’s programs aimed at advancing national progress... As mandated by the Constitution, we commit to mobilizing all legislative resources to safeguard the Republic against threats to its independence, security and peace," the manifesto read.

Romualdez said the manifesto, signed by House leaders, was issued "amid the threats to the life of the [Marcos] made by Vice President Sara Duterte and her camp’s calls for mobilization against the administration."

The Vice President over a week ago revealed she had arranged for the assassination of Marcos, First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, and Romualdez should the alleged plan to kill her succeed. She later said the remark was "maliciously taken out of logical context."

Her father and Marcos' predecessor Rodrigo Duterte meanwhile called on the Armed Forces of the Philippines to "correct" the "fractured governance," a statement interpreted as seditious by the administration.

Both Dutertes are under investigation over their remarks and other issues as the family's political rift with the administration intensifies.

The Vice President is also facing 2 impeachment complaints at the House of Representatives.
