<p>MANILA — Crime occurrence in Metro Manila dropped by 23.73 percent from the last week of November 2024 until mid-January 2025 compared to the same period in the previous year, police said Friday.</p><p>The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it recorded 768 index crimes from Nov. 23, 2024 to Jan. 15, 2025. This is lower than the 1,007 index crimes logged from Nov. 23, 2023 to Jan. 15, 2024.</p><p>The NCRPO said it seized around P153.29 million worth of illegal drugs.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/1/13/doj-files-charges-vs-2-pnp-generals-28-others-for-staged-drug-bust-1615">DOJ files charges vs 2 PNP generals, 28 others for ‘staged’ drug bust</a><br/><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/1/16/ten-cops-linked-to-the-staged-2022-p6-7-b-drug-haul-surrender-1511">10 cops linked to ‘staged’ P6.7-billion drug haul surrender</a></div><p>It said officers arrested 3,806 suspects in 1,518 illegal gambling operations and confiscated P928,000 in bet money.  </p><p>At least 352 individuals were also arrested in the campaign against illegal firearms where 364 firearms were confiscated. </p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/1/15/pnp-85-gun-ban-violators-arrested-so-far-1519">PNP: 85 gun ban violators arrested so far</a></div><p>A total of 976 most wanted persons and 1,190 other wanted persons were arrested, NCRPO added.</p><p>It said 349,465 violators of the local ordinances in Metro Manila were apprehended.</p><p>“NCRPO shall consider these initial operational milestones as our motivation to remain committed in performing our mandate of keeping the peace in Metro Manila. With the help of a responsive community, we shall continue with our ‘back to basics’ approach in crime prevention and solution, while fully embracing innovations in law enforcement,” NCRPO chief PBGen.
