MANILA — Vice President Sara Duterte on Wednesday urged Filipinos to “embrace the spirit of generosity and harmony” and “nurture the spirit of compassion and bayanihan” as the nation celebrates 2025 Spring Festival, more popularly known as Chinese New Year.

In her Chinese New Year message this year, Duterte hoped that the public would “march ahead with renewed vigor and determination to ring in 2025 with hope and optimism,” noting that: “As we celebrate this joyous occasion, let us embrace the spirit of generosity and harmony that defines this season,” she said, noting that “this vibrant time not only honors our rich traditions but also highlights the strong bonds of collaboration that enrich our heritage.”

“As we look forward to a New Year, let us nurture the spirit of compassion and bayanihan in rediscovering the rich and dynamic heritage that have long defined our mutual ties of friendship and cooperation,” she said.

The Vice President also expressed optimism for months ahead, as she wished “everyone a bountiful and successful Spring Festival celebration.”

“We join all communities in celebrating the efforts that brought good fortune and growth in our shared pursuit of a resilient and prosperous future,” she said.

“Whatever lies ahead this year, may we face every challenge boldly with the same diligence, resilience, and hard work which all communities are known for,” she said.

Duterte’s hopeful message comes as she faces at least 3 impeachment complaints in the House of Representatives — all of which have yet to be endorsed to the House Committee on Justice.

A Quezon City court has also recently dismissed cases filed against Duterte in connection with the hospital transfer of her aide last year, where the Vice President was accused of direct assault, disobedience to authority, and grave coercion.

Duterte has yet to issue a statement over the recent court decision, and has also been silent on whether or not she would endorse candidates for the 2025 midterm elections.
