Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA — Most Filipino adults are critical of the moves of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s administration to ease inflation and fight corruption, according to a Pulse Asia survey released Monday. Of 1,200 adults polled in late September, 64 percent were critical of the administration’s handling of <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/10/7/inflation-at-1-7-pct-in-september-0908">inflation</a> while 69 percent were critical of the fight against graft and corruption in government.&quot;If you look at the numbers alone, then that means Filipinos are basically unhappy with regard to what the administration is doing in addressing their concerns,&quot; Pulse Asia president Ronald Holmes said.&quot;There are 7 out of 10 saying we’re disapproving of the performance of the administration in fighting corruption. The administration has to really take this as a signal, they have to do more,&quot; he told ANC.The same survey found that inflation and corruption were the Filipinos’ most urgent national concerns, with 54 and 51 percent, respectively.“In terms of corruption, the last time we saw it in the top 3 [urgent concerns] was prior to the Aquino administration. Largely, that can be attributed to the signaling effect of the president, to emphasize that corruption is an issue… Inflation has always been the topmost urgent concern among Filipinos,” Holmes said. “If we put them together, people are concerned about their own material wellbeing. But at the same time, they’re very much concerned about the abuse of authority, specifically the misuse or pocketing of funds,” he said. The survey was conducted days after thousands of Filipinos marched in Manila to vent anger against <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/9/dpwh-uncovers-421-ghost-projects-out-of-8-000-inspected-1030">bogus flood control projects</a> believed to have cost taxpayers billions of pesos. <div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/10/10/amlc-gets-6th-freeze-order-on-assets-linked-to-flood-control-probe-1816">AMLC gets 6th freeze order on assets linked to flood control probe</a></div><div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1760324863642Screenshot 2025-10-13 at 11.07.08 AM.png" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>The same poll found that most Filipinos were also critical of the administration’s handling of poverty reduction (57 percent) and its illegal drug crackdown (61 percent).     It added that the administration logged “big plurality disapproval ratings” on the issues of workers’ pay (42 percent), involuntary hunger (43 percent), and criminality (44 percent).  Meanwhile, a “small majority of Filipino adults” or 58 percent had a positive opinion about efforts to protect the welfare of OFWs, Pulse Asia said. Appreciation was the plurality sentiment toward the government response to the needs of calamity-hit areas (46 percent), defending national territorial integrity (43 percent), and helping farmers (39 percent).
