<p>MANILA -- The remains of the Filipino crew member of the Dutch-flagged cargo ship Minervagracht who died after an attack by Houthi rebels in the Gulf of Aden will be flown back to the Philippines this week.</p><p>Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said the remains are expected to be repatriated on Friday, October 17.</p><p>Cacdac said he accompanied the family to Djibouti where the Filipino seafarer died at a hospital.</p><p>“Pauwi na ‘yung labi ng ating tripulanteng nasawi mula sa MV Minervagracht na inatake nung September 29. So Friday night, makakauwi na ‘yung labi ng nasawi,” he told reporters in a chance interview in Mandaluyong City Wednesday, October 15. </p><p>The other Filipino crew member who sustained injuries returned to the Philippines last Friday night, according to Cacdac.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/world/2025/10/8/filipino-seafarer-dies-after-houthi-attack-on-dutch-cargo-ship-dmw-1114">READ: Filipino seafarer dies after Houthi attack on Dutch cargo ship: DMW</a></div><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/world/2025/10/10/filipino-seafarer-injured-in-houthi-attack-recovers-set-to-return-to-ph-0800">READ: Filipino seafarer injured in Houthi attack recovers, set to return to PH</a></div><div><br/></div><div><strong>SUSPENSION</strong></div><p>Cacdac also confirmed that he has ordered the suspension of the licenses of the manning agency as well as the shipowner, lamenting its non-submission of report on the incident.</p><p>“Wala na namang report. It’s a very disappointing and frustrating situation for us both the manning agency and the shipowner did not even bother to render a report,” he said.</p><p>He also noted that there were accounts that the ship which came from Djibouti “even took in a contract for a Gulf state”.</p><p>“Kaya siya dumaan dun sa Gulf of Aden, again, without a report and that caused the attack of course kasi kung from Djibouti, pwede naman siyang lumihis na to the Indian Ocean, pakanan. Pero dahil nagkakontrata pa, nag Negosyo pa papuntang Gulf, na pwersa silang dumaan sa Gulf of Aden nang walang abiso sa DMW,” Cacdac stated.  </p><p>The right to refuse sailing was also not observed according to the eleven survivors, Cacdac disclosed.</p><p>“Wala man lang sa kanila ang tinanong kung gusto nilang dumaan doon sa Gulf of Aden,” he recalled.</p>
