<p>MANILA —The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has suspended the operation of the UV Express vehicle that figured in a multiple collision incident in Quezon City on Friday that left one person dead and 14 others injured. </p><p>LTFRB Chairman Vigor Mendoza II said a show-cause order (SCO) was already issued against the owner of the UV Express AUV, which came with an order to explain why the franchise should not be revoked over the incident.</p><p>The owner is also being held liable for hiring a reckless driver who was arrested after speeding off after a traffic incident along Commonwealth Avenue in Quezon City. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/17/1-dead-3-injured-after-uv-express-runs-wild-on-commonwealth-avenue-2018"><strong>1 dead, 3 injured after UV Express runs wild on Commonwealth Avenue</strong></a></div><p>“The owner of this particular unit has a lot of explaining to do because of that incident. We will determine at the course of the investigation why the driver of that UV Express reacted that way which resulted in death and multiple injuries,” said Mendoza in a statement posted on the agency&#x27;s Facebook page. </p><p>Police reports said the driver of the UV Express suddenly rammed into a group of motorcycle riders while being pursued by other riders.</p><p>“He continued to accelerate and repeatedly drove recklessly, circling from the eastbound to the westbound lanes of Commonwealth Avenue and vice versa, bumping into other vehicles and causing injuries to several victims in his attempt to evade apprehension,” the police report read.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/7/ltfrb-moves-to-address-puv-shortage-traffic-eases-on-commonwealth-avenue-1355"><strong>LTFRB moves to address PUV shortage; traffic eases on Commonwealth Avenue</strong></a></div><p>In the SCO, the owner of the unit was ordered to surrender the license plates of the unit involved. The UV Express vehicle will also be impounded.</p><p>“On behalf of the LTFRB, we express condolences to the family of the victim.
