MANILA — The Independent Commission for Infrastructure ( ICI ) on Monday denied US government interference in its ongoing investigation into the flood control scandal. ICI Executive Director Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka said the visit of US Acting Deputy Chief of Mission Michael Kelleher last Friday was just a courtesy call.Hosaka explained that Kelleher just wanted to know the basic mandate of the ICI and what it had accomplished so far.The Independent Commission did not divulge any sensitive information to the US diplomat, he added.“Wala namang interference doon because nagtatanong lang naman sila, they were just asking questions about the ICI. So, we didn’t divulge anything - nothing was tackled outside of what we already informed the public of the Filipinos, so there was no interference as far as we are concern,” Hosaka told reporters.Hosaka also confirmed that the commission is contemplating on filing another referral to the Office of the Ombudsman anytime this week.“Were looking at our current files…today was a busy day for all of us although internal yung aming mga discussions but these is all related to a case build-up. Tomorrow, were not sure yet - we will inform you if there will be referral within the week, but that’s not the target not tomorrow but within the week,” Hosaka said.The ICI is looking at sending another subpoena to former Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, said Hosaka.“We are looking at another subpoena to him (Co) just to be sure that we cover everything. We expect that will be sending another subpoena to the former congressman,” according to Hosaka.  Meanwhile, former House Speaker and Leyte 1st District Rep. Martin Romualdez asked the Commission to reset its original schedule of hearing set for Wednesday, October 22 as he needs to undergo medical procedure.“The Commission has yet to set a date for his next hearing or appearance. No specific medical procedure mentioned,” Hosaka said.The ICI also denied the insinuation of Vice President Sarah Duterte over the weekend that the ICI was created by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. just to “legitimize” its narrative of corruption scandal.“Hindi naman siguro, kasi, ang Commission as I said, will go where the evidece leads us. Regardless kung sinoman ang personalities involved. That’s why, mas mabuti nga siguro kung meron kayong mga impormasyon na alam about this anomalout projects to let us know. In that way, hindi naman yan tungkol sa any narrative, our narrative if the evidence to be presented to us. Kung anong dokumento, ebidensiya at testimony na makukuha namin na totoo - doon kami tutungo,” Hosaka explained.
