MANILA — Only three out of 24 senators have given the public access to their latest Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN).Senator Sherwin Gatchalian was the third senator to allow the media to have access to his SALN, though, like Senate President Vicente Sotto III, he has yet to actually give the media copies of his wealth declaration.“Sinabi ko kay SP Sotto na open ako na ibigay yung aking SALN. In fact, this is not the first time kung may humihingi, members of the media. Actually, in the past, maraming humihingi, so binibigay namin as long as may official request; wala kaming hinihindian,” Gatchalian said, adding that it will be given out once it is ready for public release.Sotto, meanwhile, asked the media to get his SALN from the Senate Secretary.“To those asking for my SALN, send a request to the Senate Secretariat. They already have instructions on how to distribute my SALN and those of other senators. I gave instructions this morning,” Sotto told a group chat.Senator Risa Hontiveros on Monday sent Senate reporters copies of her 2024 wealth declaration. She listed a 2024 net worth of over ₱18.98 million. She declared business interests in Planet Dive Inc., New Rural Bank of San Leonardo (Nueva Ecija) Inc., and La Luna Corp. She also listed three residential properties with a combined value of ₱8.73 million and personal properties worth ₱19.8 million. She declared a liability of ₱897,840 in a car loan.She declared no relatives in government service.Before these 3, Senator Robinhood Padilla already wrote to Senate Secretary Renato Bantug, Jr. to release his declaration.&quot;Ako po ay sumusulat sa inyo upang ipahayag ang aking kusang loob na pagbibgay ng waiver o pahintulot sa anumang aksyon o pruseso  kaugnay ng full disclosure ng aking Statement of Assets, Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN) alinsunod sa mga umiiral na batas tulad ng Republic Act No. 10173 o Data Privacy Act, iba pang patakaran at alituntunin ng pamahalaan,&quot; Padilla said in his letter.&quot;Ako ay nakikiisa sa diwa ng ganap na pagpapahayag at katapatan batay sa prinsipyo ng &#x27;Public office is a public trust&#x27; na nakasaad sa ating Saligang Batas. Naunawaan ko ang mga probisyon ng Republic Act 6713 o Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, at bilang isang lingkod bayan, buong puso kong isinusumite aking sarili sa pagsisiyasat ng sambayanan.&quot;Padilla&#x27;s office has not yet given the SALN to the media, referring the media to the Senate secretary who has yet to release the same.
