MANILA — The Department of Trade and Industry is set to share its findings on 15 government contractors that cornered P100 billion in flood control projects in the past three years.<div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/11/a-timeline-of-the-philippine-flood-control-scandal-0600">A timeline of the Philippine flood control scandal</a></div>“Meron kaming findings which we will present sa [Independent Commission for Infrastructure]…We want the ICI to divulge all of those dahil sila naman yung fact-finding…regarding those contractors concerned,” DTI Secretary Ma. Cristina Roque said in a DZMM interview.<div><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/17611016851141761101679608.png" style="width:715px" class="fr-fic fr-dib"/></div>She said the Philippine Contractors Accreditation Board, the agency tasked to screen and set standards for contractors, has also undergone a revamp following allegations that unqualified contractors were paying millions of pesos in exchange for accreditation.Under the law, all contractors need to secure a PCAB license before they can conduct business.In the interview, Roque said one of the previous requirements to be part of the PCAB is to own a construction company, which is a conflict of interest.She added that the requirement was being implemented even before President Bongbong Marcos took office in 2022.“Hindi na kami kumuha nung merong construction company but instead those who have background in construction,” she said.“They could be an engineer or part of a construction company before but not own a construction company.”The PCAB earlier revoked the contractor&#x27;s licenses of nine construction companies owned and controlled by Curlee and Sarah Discaya, which have been linked to anomalous flood control projects.
