Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</div>MANILA -- Surprise whistleblower Orly Guteza is currently in the custody of the Philippine Marines, former Representative Mike Defensor said on Wednesday. According to Defensor, Guteza has been with the Marines since his appearance at the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee in September,“Currently nasa Philippine Marines compound siya. He has been there ever since nung hearing na nasagawa sa Senado. DOJ weighs in</a></div>Defensor said that Guteza did not request custody or protection, but noted that the Marines must be protecting their former member. &quot;I don’t think na siya mismo yung humingi ng proteksyon. Tingin ko ito yung talagang samahan at brotherhood ng Philippine Marines,&quot; he said.He also revealed that Guteza was allegedly ambushed earlier this month, but emerged unharmed. The culprit behind the alleged ambush was apprehended by the Marines.&quot;Meron silang na sakote na umaaligid kay Sergeant Guteza and hindi ko alam ang detalye. Kasi parang nagkaroon lang ng tawag sakin ang isa nating kaibigan sa media. Sabi sakin, sir na ambush daw si Sergeant Guteza,&quot; he said.&quot;May binanggit siyang pangalan, medyo credible yung pinanggalingan ng source... Hindi naman siya nasaktan at nadampot pa yung umaaligid na tao sa kanya,&quot; he added.Defensor also believes that the statement Guteza gave to the Philippine Senate is true, despite a Manila Trial Court finding his affidavit falsified.Guteza, who claims to be a former staff of resigned Ako Bicol Party-list Rep. Zaldy Co, earlier testified in a Senate hearing that he delivered suitcases of money to the homes of Co and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez. Both have denied the claims.
