Bea Cuadra, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA — As the nation marks a solemn time for remembering departed loved ones, visitors started arriving at the Manila North Cemetery since the gates opened at 5:00 a.m. Friday.</p><p>Despite the anticipated increase in crowds for the day, the atmosphere inside the sprawling memorial ground remained orderly, according to reports from the Manila Police District (MPD).</p><p>Over 500 MPD personnel have been deployed across the cemetery to ensure the safety and smooth flow of visitors.</p><p>Following up on Thursday&#x27;s activity, the MPD reported that conditions have remained orderly since the previous day.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>SIGNIFICANT CROWD EXPECTED</strong></div><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/video.php?height=314&amp;href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2Freel%2F779426908429309%2F&amp;show_text=false&amp;width=560&amp;t=0" width="560" height="314" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span>The gates opened at 5:00 this morning, and since then, a steady and growing stream of people has been seen visiting their departed loved ones.</div><p>&quot;Kahapon naging kalmado lahat at walang ano mang kaganapang pumukaw saating kamalayan,&quot; Maj. Philipp Ines, MPD PIO chief, noted.</p><p>Approximately 13,000 visitors were recorded on Thursday.</p><p>Ines further commented on the turnout and compliance.</p><p>“Nakapagtala tayo ng mahigit kumulang 13,000 na mga pumunta rito na mga kababayan natin at natutuwa naman tayo dahil nakita natin yung mga panawagan natin na mga ipinagbabawal konti lang ang mga na-confiscate natin.&quot;</p><p>A significant crowd is expected Friday as many are anticipated to visit the cemetery throughout the day. </p><p>&quot;Ngayon ay full deployment na natin kung saan ay dito sa Manila North Cemetery meron tayong MPD personnel na maaassign dito at nakaassign na dito na mahigit 500,&quot; Ines said.</p><p>Major Ines shared his outlook.</p><p>“Itong araw na ito inaasahan natin na dadami ang mga tao sa ating pinakamalaking himlayan dito sa Maynila... Nung nakaraang taon nakapagtala tayo dito ng mahigit 1.5 million na kabuoan ng bumisita dito sa Manila North,” he said.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>PROHIBITED ITEMS</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>A new rule is also in effect at the entrance before visitors are allowed inside the cemetery.</p><p>Should any prohibited items be confiscated, they will now be labeled or numbered so that visitors can retrieve them upon exiting.</p><p>For those wishing to purchase flowers and candles, stalls are readily available just outside the cemetery gates, offering a wide variety of choices.</p><p>Visitors are advised to avoid bringing prohibited items such as flammable materials, sharp objects, loud speakers or sound systems, and pets. </p><p>Cars are not allowed inside the cemetery gates.
