Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA<strong> (UPDATE)</strong> — Senate President Vicente Sotto III named 5 of his colleagues who could potentially succeed Senate President Pro Tempore Panfilo Lacson as chairperson of the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee.</p><p>Lacson submitted his resignation letter to Sotto on Monday. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/10/6/sotto-receives-lacson-s-blue-ribbon-resignation-letter-1803">Sotto receives Lacson&#x27;s Blue Ribbon resignation letter</a></div><p>Sotto said Senators JV Ejercito, Raffy Tulfo, Kiko Pangilinan, Pia Cayetano, and Risa Hontiveros are being considered to replace Lacson to lead the powerful panel.</p><p>Cayetano was the Blue Ribbon chairperson in the 19th Congress.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/9/9/hontiveros-declined-blue-ribbon-chairmanship-sotto-0945">Hontiveros declined Blue Ribbon chairmanship: Sotto</a></div><p>Of the 5, only Pangilinan and Cayetano are lawyers, but Sotto said this is not a requirement.</p><p>In a statement, Tulfo said he was flattered for being considered but also indicated he would decline.</p><p>&quot;I&#x27;m very flattered that my name is being considered among four other senators for the prestigious Blue Ribbon Committee chairmanship.
