Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday reported the successful implementation of the country’s unified 911 emergency hotline, with more than 140,000 calls processed nationwide from September 11 to November 9, 2025.</p><p>Data from the PNP showed that out of 143,463 total calls, around 28,423 were legitimate emergencies that required immediate police response.</p><p>However, authorities also received 22,541 prank calls, which they warned could disrupt critical rescue operations.</p><p>The hotline recorded 1,941 fire incidents and 8,058 requests for medical aid, while 82,500 other calls involved public safety concerns, coordination with partner agencies, and non-emergency inquiries.</p><p>According to the PNP, the numbers reflect the system’s expanding role as a one-stop emergency hotline that connects Filipinos to police, medical responders, fire services, and disaster units.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>FASTER RESPONSE TIME NATIONWIDE</strong></div><div><br/></div><p>Acting PNP chief Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. said the unified 911 system has helped cut the average police response time to 4.28 minutes.</p><p>“The unified 911 system is a big step forward in our mission to protect every Filipino. By streamlining our operations, we respond faster and more effectively, helping save lives and maintain peace in our communities,” he said.</p><p>He added that legitimate emergency calls continue to outnumber prank calls, showing that more Filipinos are relying on the national hotline.</p><p>The PNP noted that the system also helped respond to more than 7,200 public order disturbances and over 7,300 crimes against persons.</p><p>Medical emergencies and fire incidents remain a major portion of all calls.</p><p>“This is what a modern, accessible, and accountable police force looks like,” Nartatez said.</p><p>The police urged the public to refrain from prank calling the hotline and to use the service only for legitimate emergencies.</p>
