Senate PRIB Photos </span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Department of Education (DepEd) Secretary Sonny Angara on Wednesday said he sees no need to resign from his post, underscoring that allegations linking him to kickbacks from anomalous flood control projects were “just hearsay.”</p><p>“Hindi siguro kasi hearsay lang yung nasa akin tapos wala pang specific accusation,” he told reporters in a chance interview.</p><p>“Walang mention of any transaction or anything so kung sa korte yan, ibabasura yan di ba?” he added.</p><p>Angara gave the comment on the sidelines of an event in Pasig City a day after Malacañang said that the education chief does not need to submit a courtesy resignation “if he thinks he is clean.”</p><p>Former Public Works Undersecretary Roberto Bernardo last Friday named Angara among former lawmakers who allegedly profited from kickbacks from ghost or substandard flood control projects.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/14/bernardo-tags-more-officials-in-flood-control-kickbacks-1540">Ex-DPWH exec Bernardo tags more officials in flood control mess</a></div><p>Angara, who previously served as the Senate Finance Committee chairperson, previously said he has “never been involved in corruption” in his 21 years of government service.</p><p>Earlier this week, the Palace announced the “voluntary resignations” of <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/17/bersamin-pangandaman-resign-recto-is-new-executive-secretary-1722">Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin and Budget Secretary Amenah Pangandaman </a>after their names were dragged into the list of supposed politicians who meddled with the 2025 national budget to allegedly insert kickback-tainted projects.</p><p>But on Wednesday, <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/19/bersamin-says-he-did-not-resign-but-was-told-he-had-to-go-1129">Bersamin denied that his resignation was voluntary</a>, noting that someone “not from Malacañang” called him and told him that he “had to go.”</p><p>Malacañang has yet to comment on the issue. </p><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FabscbnNEWS%2Fposts%2Fpfbid0QKFbfACZoaqEygSVk8jV1xmLd2MsZQ3TcQeDwVMbmLcWnWZa8JVGkv7kpo74pCA8l&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="728" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>Following the Cabinet shakeup, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Wednesday administered the oath of office of new Executive Secretary Ralph Recto and Finance Secretary Frederick Go.</p><p>Recto was joined by his son Batangas Sixth District Rep.
