<p>MANILA -- The Department of the Interior and Local Government said it is verifying claims of alleged data breach in its internal systems.</p><p>This comes after a cybersecurity advocacy group Deep Web Konek alleged that a hacktivist group claimed it &quot;infiltrated&quot; DILG’s internal network and successfully &quot;exfiltrated&quot; around 400 gigabytes of sensitive data.</p><p>“The DILG is already verifying the claims circulating online about a possible breach of our internal systems. Our technical teams and government cybersecurity units are undertaking the appropriate investigative steps,” the agency said in a statement Saturday. </p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/10/29/gcash-data-breach-on-dark-web-is-fake-news-says-info-security-exec-1143"><strong>GCash data breach on Dark Web is fake news, says info security exec </strong></a> </div><p>“Initial checks show our core services remain stable,” it assured.</p><p>The department added that it activated “containment and security protocols” to protect its data while the investigation is underway. </p><p>“For now, we ask the public not to rely on unverified posts,” it noted.</p><p>The Department of Information and Communications Technology has yet to release a statement on the matter.</p><div><br/></div><div><strong>’CALL ATTENTION TO CORRUPTION’?</strong></div><p>In a Facebook post Saturday, Deep Web Konek said a hacktivist group known as #HappyGoLucky released files and screenshots to support their claim, including an image showing access to a DILG SQL (Structured Query Language) interface.</p><p>“An initial review of the screenshot indicates that the group gained access to a production database used for Gender and Development (GAD) document management, containing over 113,000 records,” the cybersecurity advocacy group said.</p><p>It noted that the said records included internal reports, government templates, submissions of local government unit submissions, budget-related documents, PDF and Word file uploads, and other administrative files with corresponding hash values, file extensions, and remarks.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/business/2024/7/2/dict-unit-hit-by-minor-data-breach-2021"><strong>DICT unit hit by &#x27;minor&#x27; data breach </strong></a> </div><p>“The structure and volume of these entries appear consistent with an active government repository, not test or placeholder data,” Deep Web Konek said in its statement.  </p><p>“Another image shows several SQL system dumps being pulled from DILG servers, hinting that multiple internal platforms were compromised,” the cybersecurity group also noted in its caption.</p><p>Deep Web Konek further took note that the source domain visible in the screenshot (dilg.gov.ph) “further indicates that the data originated directly from government servers”.</p><p>It added that the hacktivist group described the incident “as an act of hacktivism rather than cybercrime for profit, stating that they do not sell or trade any stolen information”.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/1/7/dict-denies-government-data-compromised-in-recent-cyberattacks-1859"><strong>DICT denies government data compromised in recent cyberattacks by Chinese-sponsored hackers </strong></a> </div><p>“According to their message, their actions were intended to call attention to corruption, which they claim continues to harm Filipino communities. They added that government officials who cannot properly serve the public should be held accountable,” Deep Web Konek said citing a supposed statement from HappyGoLuckyPH.</p>
