<div><span class="fr-img-caption fr-fic fr-dib" style="width:960px;display:block" width="960"><span class="fr-img-wrap"><img src="https://od2-image-api.abs-cbn.com/prod/editorImage/1763952709399viber_image_2025-11-24_09-27-41-938.jpg" style="width:960px" class="fr-fic fr-dib" width="960"/><span class="fr-inner" spellcheck="false" style="text-align:left">Women&#x27;s groups protest against corruption ahead of International Day to End Violence Against Women. <em>ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — Women&#x27;s groups on Monday staged a protest at the gates of the Office of the Ombudsman to demand a cleanup of corruption-ridden government offices, a day before the International Day to End Violence Against Women.</p><p>Jean Enriquez, Executive Director of the Coalition Against Trafficking in Women - Asia Pacific (CATW-AP), argued that men implicated in corruption cases also perpetrate violence because corruption diverts public funds away from social services meant to protect women from sexual and gender-based violence.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/24/-sumuko-na-kayo-marcos-says-7-accused-in-flood-control-scam-arrested-0718">‘Sumuko na kayo’: Eight accused in flood control scam arrested</a></div><p>“Itong pagnanakaw sa kaban ng yaman ay nangangahulugan din ng pagkawala ng pondo para sa pagtulong sa mga biktima ng karahasan sa mga kababaihan kagaya ng mga violence against women desks na mawawalan ng pondo,” Enriquez said.</p><p>The groups added that many women are suffering from anxiety and depression due to the floods enabled by corruption that pose risks to their families and livelihoods.</p><p>“Sa harap ng napakaraming baha na dinanas ng taumbayan, ang mga kababaihan ang pangunahin [na] nagkakaron ng anxiety dahil kailangan nilang iligtas ang kanilang mga anak tuwing bumabaha at dahil tainted ang mga flood control projects ay nanganganib ang buhay ng kanilang mga anak,” Enriquez said.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/24/church-leaders-push-moral-urgency-as-hundreds-join-edsa-prayer-rally-amid-corruption-scandal-0046">Church leaders push moral urgency as hundreds join EDSA prayer rally amid corruption scandal</a></div><p>She called for the immediate suspension of legislators allegedly involved in corruption schemes, but clarified that they reject any coup attempts.</p><p>“Ang panawagan namin ay accountability ng lahat. Kinakailangan lahat ay imbestigahan. Hindi kami nananawagan nga lamang ng pagpapalit na agaran ng gobyerno dahil ito’y mangangahulugan ng power grab ng mga nais magsamantala sa kasalukuyang disgusto ng taumbayan,” Enriquez said.</p><p>She also called on former Ako Bicol Rep. Zaldy Co to immediately surrender and present all evidence related to his allegations.</p><p>“Napakahalaga na siya ay sumuko at kanya ring ilabas ang mga ebidensya hinggil sa kanyang mga paratang.
