<p>MANILA — Eight officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways-Mimaropa pleaded not guilty to graft on Thursday in relation to the alleged flood control anomaly in Oriental Mindoro.</p><p>Those who pleaded not guilty before the Sandiganbayan’s Fifth Division included DPWH Region IV-B officials Gerald Pacanan, Gene Altea, Ruben Delos Santos Jr., Dominic Serrano, Lerma Cayco, Dennis Abagon, Felisardo Casuno, and Montrexis Tamayo.</p><p>Meanwhile, DPWH Region IV-B Maintenance Division Chief Juliet Calvo missed the arraignment because the court was not able to issue a produce order for her to appear.</p><p>Calvo, who is under the custody of Camp Caringal, is set to be arraigned on Dec. 2.</p><div><iframe src="https://www.facebook.com/plugins/post.php?href=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.facebook.com%2FabscbnNEWS%2Fposts%2Fpfbid02ggwsQgsZsKYQvf1c8AGE4LGdujT3ekyxB4Zensx8sBfNbiuTEn5Am2oKfKfLKJH7l&amp;show_text=true&amp;width=500" width="500" height="250" style="border:none;overflow:hidden" scrolling="no" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div><p>During the arraignment, the defense panel requested the anti-graft court to prevent the prosecutors from granting media interviews about the case. </p><p>The court, chaired by Associate Justice Gener Gito, said the motion would be subject to further manifestation. </p><p>The preliminary conferences for the graft case were set on January 9, 19, and 26, and on February 5, 12, 19, and 26, 2025.</p><div><iframe width="1100" height="619" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Gok9IjMrk1U" title="Remulla: &#x27;Malalaking isda&#x27; sa flood control scandal, sunod nang aarestuhin | TV Patrol" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe><iframe width="1100" height="619" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/VDMEzA9k8Ok" title="Ninth suspect in Oriental Mindoro flood control fraud arrested | ANC" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen=""></iframe></div>
