<p>MANILA <strong>(UPDATE) </strong>— The House of Representatives and its members will cooperate with investigations into the corruption in flood control projects, House Speaker Faustino Dy III said Thursday after the Independent Commission for Infrastructure recommended charged against seven lawmakers and one who has resigned.</p><p>Dy added the investigations will not distract the House from its legislative work.</p><p>“Ang pananagutan ay bahagi ng pagiging lingkod-bayan, at ang lahat ng miyembro—iniimbestigahan man o hindi—ay handang makipagtulungan sa anumang proseso habang patuloy na ginagampanan ang kanilang papel bilang mambabatas,” Dy said.</p><p>(Accountability is a part of being a public servant and all House members — whether being investigated or not — are ready to cooperate with any proceeding while continuing to fulfill their roles as legislators)</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/27/rep-gardiola-breaks-silence-on-flood-control-corruption-issue-welcomes-probe-1219"><strong>Rep. Martin Romualdez, Dy&#x27;s predecessor as speaker — have appeared before the ICI, which has promised to livestream proceedings but has also allowed resource persons to request closed-door executive sessions.<strong><br/></strong></p><p>The ICI and the Department of Public Works and Highways on Wednesday recommended the filing of administrative and criminal cases <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/26/ici-eyes-raps-vs-congtractors-1352">against several lawmakers</a> who have links to or own construction firms that were awarded flood-control projects.</p><p>Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla, whose office will review the recommendations for potential preliminary investigation said he expects around 15 more House members will be found to have similar links to construction companies.</p><p>&quot;Maraming masasaktan dito (This will hurt a lot of people)… More than 10 percent of Congress will be affected,” Remulla said Wednesday, adding the ongoing probe might disrupt business at the 318-seat House.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/11/27/sandro-marcos-says-to-face-ici-any-time-after-zaldy-co-claims-0925"><strong>Sandro Marcos says ready to face ICI ‘any time’ after Zaldy Co claims<br/></strong></a></div><p>Dy said Thursday that the House&#x27;s commitment to cooperate with investigations remains despite members being implicated in the controversy of irregular, substandard and non-existent flood-control projects.</p><p>House Assistant Majority Leader Zia Alonto Adiong of Lanao del Sur meanwhile said legislative work has continued at the chamber despite the controversy and the ongoing investigations.</p><p>“I think the House of Representatives, under our majority leader, will continue on with our legislative function because that&#x27;s really our mandate,” Adiong also said.</p><p>House Assistant Minority Leader Chel Diokno of Akbayan party-list said he believes work will go on even if, as Remulla said, 10 percent of House members face investigations and cases.</p><p>&quot;You still have 90 percent of the members functioning.
