<p>MANILA — Hours before the scheduled anti-corruption protest “Baha sa Luneta 2.0,” police barred organizers from setting up their stage at Rizal Park past midnight, citing the “No Permit, No Rally” policy.</p><p>According to the Kilusang Bayang Kontra Kurakot (KBKK), their group was supposed to begin setting the stage up around 12:30 a.m. for the mass action set on Bonifacio Day.  </p><p>Militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN) condemned the move, saying the police action was meant to disrupt preparations and discourage people from joining the protest.</p><p>BAYAN Secretary-General Mong Palatino said they were surprised at the development since they had been coordinating with city hall and with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority.</p><p>&quot;Wala silang objection sa aming protesta. Tutulungan nila ang protesta na matuloy,&quot; he said.</p><p>(They had no objections. Ang sabi pa nga ng Manila LGU, &#x27;We post no objection to the protest. The same assistance given to Iglesia ni Cristo will be provided to the anti-corruption protest on November 30,&#x27;&quot; Palatino said.</p><p>“The setting up of stage and road closure should have been done as early as 12:00 a.m., but the Manila police prevented our team and insisted that protests are prohibited in Luneta,” BAYAN said in a statement.</p><p>BAYAN accused authorities of attempting to “sabotage” the protest and linked the move to heightened security in areas around Recto Avenue, Mendiola Street, and Malacañang.</p><p>Organizers estimate around 30,000 people are expected to attend the anti-corruption protest.</p>
