MANILA – The Office of the Vice President’s Disaster Operations Center is ready to augment the disaster response of local government units affected by Typhoon Tino, Vice President Sara Duterte said on Tuesday.In a video message, Duterte reminded the public to follow directives from authorities and prioritize their safety.Aside from this, the Vice President shared safety tips, saying families’ go-bags – containing a first aid kit, water, food, flashlight, and batteries – must be prepared at all times.  “Tanggalin sa saksakan ang mga kagamitang de-kuryente upang maiwasan ang power surge at posibleng makuryente; iwasang lumabas o bumiyahe hanggang hindi idinedeklarang ligtas ng mga awtoridad ang ating mga kalsada; lumipat sa mas mataas na lugar kung kayo ay nakatira sa lugar na madaling bahain,” Duterte said.“Maging alerto at makinig sa mga balita at abiso ng panahon mula sa PAGASA; tumulong sa mga bata, matatanda, at mga taong may kapansanan,” she said.“Ang kaligtasan at kapakanan ng bawat isa ang nananatiling pangunahing layunin sa panahong ito,” she added.At least five people were killed and around 400,000 individuals have so far been displaced amid strong rains and floods brought by Typhoon Tino in several areas of the country – most especially in the Visayas region and northern Mindanao – on Tuesday.The typhoon, however, weakened after making its fourth landfall over San Lorenzo, Guimaras past 11 a.m.Tino was forecast to cross southern Panay, Cuyo Islands, and northern Palawan before emerging over the West Philippine Sea on Wednesday morning.– With a report from Ariel Rojas, ABS-CBN News
