LRTA assures proper operations of LRT-2 amid expected influx of passengers on holiday season

<p>MANILA — The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) assured commuters of proper operations of the LRT-2 with the expected influx of passengers and shoppers during the holiday season.</p><p>“Ang usual na ginagawa namin is to ensure na walang aberya sa tren. We make sure everyday ay gumagana lahat ng tren, walang aberya,” LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera said in an interview with state-run media PTV Wednesday, December 3.</p><p>He also assured that all station facilities such as escalator, elevator and comfort rooms are working properly.</p><div><a class="fr-green fr-strong" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/12/2/lrta-gears-up-for-surge-of-passengers-on-lrt-2-during-christmas-season-1246">LRTA gears up for surge of passengers on LRT-2 during Christmas season</a></div><p>For now, Cabrera said no train deployment adjustments are being implemented but he noted that all transport operators have been directed by the transport department to prepare for the holiday rush.</p><p>However, the LRTA official underscored the need for the deployment of additional trains to augment the current 10 trains plying LRT-2.</p><p>“We need really additional trains, kailangang bumili na talaga ng additional trains. Ito iyong niri-request namin na mabigyan tayo ng pondo para makadagdag tayo ng tren,” he emphasized.</p><p>“Kaya ang puwede lang naming gawin at the moment is to ensure na itong naiwan na sampu na tren gumagana iyan everyday and that we deploy them everyday lalo na sa peak hour and then to ensure na walang aberya, walang masisira habang nasa linya iyong ating mga tren.
