Yummie Dingding, PPA pool</span></span></span></div><div><br/></div><p>MANILA – President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. and his family will welcome the New Year in Malacañang as he continues to review the proposed national budget for 2026, the Palace said on Wednesday. </p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/12/30/malaca-ang-conducting-thorough-review-of-p6-79-t-2026-national-budget-0657">Malacañang ‘conducting thorough review’ of P6.79-T 2026 national budget</a></div><p>Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said Marcos, Jr. would not travel for the new year revelries. </p><p>“Ang Pangulo ay narito lamang at walang pagbibiyahe na magaganap,” Castro told Palace reporters.  </p><p>“Kasama niyang sasalubungin ang Bagong Taon ang kanyang pamilya at mga mahal sa buhay,” she added.</p><p>Asked if he is still reviewing the budget, she answered in the affirmative.</p><p>Last week, the Presidential Communications Office said the President started reviewing the differences between the National Expenditure Program (NEP) and the 2026 General Appropriations Bill (GAB) approved in the bicameral conference committee.</p><p>“The President will be spending the holidays working,” PCO Secretary Dave Gomez said on Dec. 23. </p><p>On Tuesday, Executive Secretary Ralph Recto said Malacañang is conducting a thorough review” of the ratified version of the 2026 GAB, as the President and his team are “scrutinizing all allocations and provisions to fully account for any changes” from the NEP.</p><p>Marcos is expected to sign the Philippines’ P6.793-trillion budget for next year in the “first week of January,” Recto had said. </p><div><br/></div><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><br/></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/jHD9MLAMYnc?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
