(UPDATED) Senator Imee Marcos on Tuesday dispelled speculations that she is at odds with her brother, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.In a speech delivered entirely in Ilocano at the kickoff campaign rally of the administration’s senatorial slate in Laoag City, the lawmaker said that she was hurt by assumptions that she is not in good terms with her brother.“Gagangay laeng ti gura ken apa iti pamilya, partido, pulitiko, pati karruba. Nu dadduma ibagada, apapaek kano ni adingko, ni Presidente Apo Bongbong. Siguro maulaw kayo, sipud met, saan kami nga agapapa kenni adingko. Nasakit nu ibaga da nga apapaek isuna. (It&#x27;s normal to have quarrels and fights with family, party, politicians, even neighbors. Sometimes they say I fight with my brother, President Bongbong. Maybe you are dizzy, my brother and I used to never fight. It hurts when they say I fight him),” Senator Marcos said.“Palpalagipak laeng isuna ta madik kayat nga mairurumen ni adingko. Marcos ak, Marcos ti Presidente tayo (I&#x27;m just reminding him because I don&#x27;t want my brother to get hurt. I am a Marcos, Marcos is our President),” she added.The lawmaker meanwhile says it is important for them to set aside their differences to be able to address the most pressing issues such as inflation, unemployment, and poverty.“Ipaigid tayo pay laeng amin nga madi panagkikinaawatan tapno mangngeg tayo dagiti mabisbisin nga kakailian tayo (Isantabi muna natin ang mga hindi pagkakaintindihan para marinig natin ang mga nagugutom na mga kababayan natin),” she said.Senator Marcos attended the administration coalition’s proclamation rally on Tuesday despite her earlier decision not to be part of the administration’s senatorial slate, choosing instead to run as an independent candidate. Despite this, the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas said they will continue to campaign for Marcos as an administration candidate, and that there are no plans to replace her.Imee earlier said she has remained friends with Vice President Sara Duterte even after the UniTeam of the President and the VP imploded.Tensions between the Marcos and Duterte families have soured over the investigations launched by the president&#x27;s allies at the House of Representatives.
