Leila De Lima on Friday expressed dismay that her name was dragged in the disbarment case of a lawyer who supposedly contributed to her past senatorial campaign.</p><p>In a letter sent to the Supreme Court, De Lima noted that her name was mentioned in the press release of the Office of the Court Spokesperson on the disbarment of Demosthenes Tecson.</p><p>In the press release, Tecson allegedly misappropriated funds of his client, supposedly a portion of which went to De Lima’s past senatorial campaign funds.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/2/19/sc-disbars-lawyer-for-misappropriating-p60m-of-clients-funds-1821">SC disbars lawyer for misappropriating P60M of clients&#x27; funds</a></div><p>“I categorically state that this claim is utterly false and has no basis in fact,” De Lima said in her letter. </p><p>She stressed that she was wrongfully implicated in the press release and it was unjust for her name to be dragged in the misconduct of a lawyer. </p><p>“While I am sure there was no malice intended by the Supreme Court Spokesperson in this inclusion, I would be grateful for a public clarification in a supplemental press release on this case that no proof whatsoever was presented to the truth of Mr. Tecson’s malicious allegation involving my person in his excuses to his client and to the court,” De Lima said.</p><p>De Lima also asked the court to furnish her all the relevant documents filed by Tecson.</p><p>“I intend to take all necessary legal steps to protect my rights and to ensure that my name is not unjustly maligned by falsehoods and misrepresentations,” De Lima said.</p><div><strong>RELATED VIDEO</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Aq8MkCPU--A?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span> </div>
