<p>Inflation is pulling down President Ferdinand Marcos Jnr&#x27;s trust ratings even as a campaign to malign the President seems to be gaining ground in Mindanao, the head of Stratbase ADR Institute said Tuesday.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/business/2025/1/31/inflation-to-fall-between-2-5-to-3-3-pct-in-january-bsp-1212">Inflation to fall between 2.5 to 3.3 pct in January: BSP</a></div><p>A <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/2/3/trust-ratings-of-marcos-duterte-drop-in-january-sws-1813">January 2025 Social Weather Stations survey</a>, conducted in partnership with Stratbase Group, earlier showed Filipinos with much trust in Marcos dropped from 54% in December 2024 to 50% in January.</p><p>Vice President Sara Duterte’s trust rating also dropped, with only 49 percent of respondents saying they had much trust in the Vice President in January compared to 52 percent in December.</p><p>Stratbase Institute president Prof. Dindo Manhit said the drop in Marcos&#x27; ratings is directly tied to inflation, with cost of essential goods continuing to rise while Filipinos have less chance of earning a living. </p><p>&quot;Kay President Marcos Jr, ito talaga ang global trend, ito ang nakikita natin sa lahat ng bansa all over the world. The Vice President is facing several impeachment complaints in connection with her office&#x27;s use of the funds. </p><p>&quot;Sa akin, corruption issue &#x27;yan. The survey showed highest distrust in Marcos was recorded amongst Mindanaoans with 36 percent saying they have “little trust” in the President.</p><p>In comparison, Duterte was still most trusted in Mindanao at 78 percent, although this number is 5 percent lower than her “much trust” rating in the region last month.</p><p>&quot;Pinakamababa siya sa Mindanao, maaaring may kampanya laban sa kanya don,&quot; Manhit said.</p><p>&quot;Sa Mindanao, hindi natin maipaliwanag bakit bumababa siya dun. Maaaring mas may naninira sa Pangulo dun o may nagpapakalat ng ibang pananaw imbes na ang pinag-uusapan ay presyo ng bilihin, trabaho,&quot; he added.</p><p>His advice to the President? &quot;Nationally, harapin ang isyu ng ekonomiya at sa Mindanao mas lalong tutukan.&quot;</p>
