MANILA —Former president Rodrigo Duterte needs to be admitted to a hospital after his blood sugar “shot up” despite insulin treatments, his doctor said on Tuesday, after checking on the Davaoeño leader who was arrested and brought to Villamor Air Base. The 79-year old former president has been receiving an “insulin regimen of Toujeo 50 units once a day and Novorapid pre-meals coverage [of] 10-15 units&quot;, Dr. Rosa Allyn Sy said in her medical certification dated March 11, 2025.“This is to certify that Mr. Rodrigo R. Duterte, 79 yo Male, consulted me for follow up care for diabetes management. His glucose level shot up to 328 despite insulin 50 u once a day and 10-15u,” the letter read.“He is advised admission to avoid acute diabetic complications or DKA (diabetic ketoacidosis).
