Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News"/><span class="fr-inner" style="text-align:left">Supporters of former president Rodrigo Duterte light candles outside Villamor Airbase in Pasay City, where Duterte is currently being held after his arrest on March 11, 2025. <em>Maria Tan, ABS-CBN News</em></span></span></span></div><p>MANILA -- The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) reminded pro-Duterte rallyists to secure permission first before marching their way to the EDSA Shrine and EDSA People Power Monument.</p><p>NCRPO chief PBGen Anthony Aberin said they anticipated a possible gathering of Duterte supporters after pockets of protests surged following the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.</p><p>&quot;Actually, &#x27;yung public assembly po ay pinapayagan po iyan kahit na walang permit sa mga freedom parks, po pero kung hindi po sa freedom park yung public assembly na gagawin nila ay dapat po ay may kaukulang permiso na manggagaling sa city government po kung saan gagawa ng public assembly,&quot; said Aberin in an interview on Teleradyo Serbisyo on Wednesday night.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/3/12/pnp-anticipates-pro-duterte-protests-secures-edsa-shrine-1536"><strong>PNP anticipates pro-Duterte protests, secures EDSA Shrine</strong></a></div><p>He said the EDSA Shrine and EDSA People Power Monument are not considered as freedom parks.</p><p>&quot;[Ang EDSA Shrine] private po iyan... pag aari ng Simbahan. Dapat po may kaukulang permiso na manggaling sa mga pari po na nagooccupy sa EDSA Shrine po. Kung wala po at inirequest po sa amin na buwagin at paalisin at agad po kaming tutugon,&quot; said Aberin.</p><p>&quot;Ang EDSA People Power monument po ang pagkakaalam ko hindi po freedom park iyon, kailangan ng permiso na manggagaling sa Quezon City government po. Kung wala po ay pwedeng buwagin kaagad [ang pagtitipon].&quot;</p><p>Aberin said they have already monitored several quarters trying to organize a rally after Duterte was ordered arrested by the International Criminal Court through the International Police.</p><div><a class="fr-green" href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/3/12/-kinilabutan-kami-families-of-ejk-victims-react-to-duterte-s-arrest-1531"><strong>&#x27;Kinilabutan kami&#x27;: Families of EJK victims react to Duterte’s arrest</strong></a></div><p>&quot;Nakita at narining po natin ang pangungubinsi nila na pumunta sa EDSA, pero kaakibat ng pagbabanta iyon ay tayo ay laging nakahanda,&quot; he said. &quot;Sa katunayan po ay may 21,000 personnel tayo na pwede nating ideploy agad agad sa mga kalsada.&quot;</p><p>The Philippine National Police including the NCRPO are currently on heightened alert nationwide.</p><p>&quot;Sa ngayon po wala tayong natatanggap na koordinasyon na manggaling sa [rally] organizers, althoug naririnig at nababasa natin sa mga social media. Pero sa ngayon wala pa kaming nakukuhang koordinasyon,&quot; said Aberin.</p><p>&quot;Dito sa Metro Manila ngayon generally peaceful tayo. Ang PNP at lalo ang NCRPO ay on top of the situation po.
