Palace confirms Presidential Security Command leadership change

<div><br/></div><p>MANILA — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has terminated the appointment of Presidential Security Command Commander Major General Jesus Nelson Morales, Malacanang said Wednesday.</p><p>&quot;Na-terminate po yung kanyang command dahil po ililipat po siya ng ibang duty. &#x27;Yun lamang po ang maaari nating sabihin patungkol po diyan sa PSC,&quot; Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said. </p><p>Castro earlier confirmed that Army BGen. Peter Burgonio would step in as acting commander of the PSC.</p><p>The Palace official denied that Morales’ termination as PSC commander had something to do with the recent arrest of alleged Chinese spies conducting espionage activities in various vital government installations, including the Malacanang Palace.</p><p>“Wala pong nabanggit sa atin na ganoon. Lumabas lamang po na yun nga po ang kanyang command, will be considered terminated dahil meron na pong papalit bilang PSC commander,” she said.</p><p>The military is exempt from the election ban on the transfer of government officials. </p><div><br style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"/></div>
