<p>MANILA — As walking has become a hobby for many Gen Zs, a video of three college students who decided to film their six-kilometer walk home went viral in TikTok.</p><p>The Chinito Walkers are a trio of 20-year-old friends: Irvin Ong, Idrian Lim, and Bon Shi.</p><p>They went viral after Ong, also known as JetNekko, posted their spontaneous decision to walk from their school, De La Salle University Manila, to their residence close to Bambang Station. For now, gusto muna namin ma-incorporate lahat bago pumunta sa mga long distances like Cavite or Tagaytay,” Ong said.</p><p>(As of now, there are still many universities and malls around Metro Manila. For now, we would like to incorporate everything before going long distances like Cavite or Tagaytay.)</p><p>As they kept their feet moving on this walking adventure, the trio also shared their realizations that some areas were not &quot;walkable&quot; due uneven sidewalks, animal manures, random toilet seats, piles of garbage, unpleasant odors, and unfinished construction.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/life/03/28/23/dotr-aims-intramuros-to-be-more-walkable-bike-friendly">DOTr wants Intramuros to be more walkable, bike-friendly</a></div><p>“Sa videos niyo malalaman kung accessible ba sidewalks sa Metro Manila, more contents like this please,” a TikTok user commented.</p><p>(Your videos will show you if sidewalks in Metro Manila are accessible, more content like this please.)</p><p>From jokingly vlogging their way home, their creative spark took on a whole new meaning. They now wanted to bring awareness to the audience.</p><p>“Let’s bring awareness na we need to have like better roads, better urban planning,” Shi expressed.</p><p>To those who were inspired by them, they suggested walking early in the morning or before evening and bringing minimal things, such as an extra-light shirt, water, and an umbrella.</p><p>“For the people na na-inspire, na they want to follow us sa mga lakad, ang message ko lang sa inyo is talagang mag-ingat kayo, i-prioritize niyo talaga ‘yung wellbeing niyo na [kapag] sa mga sidewalk na halos hindi sidewalk, you guys have to double [your] attention, [sa mga dumadaang] mga motor, ‘yung mga car, kasi talagang delikado,” Ong explained.</p><p>(For the people who were inspired, who want to follow us on walks, my only message to you is to really be careful, really prioritize your wellbeing [when] on the sidewalks that are almost not sidewalks, you guys have to double [your] attention, [to passing] motorbikes, cars, because it is really dangerous.)</p><p>Following the popularity of the video, they continued their journey to places like Binondo, Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Greenbelt, and Ateneo de Manila University.</p>
