Comelec suspends proclamation of several candidates

MANILA — The Commission on Elections En Banc, First Division and Second Division on Tuesday issued orders to suspend the proclamation of several candidates vying for different positions in the 2025 midterm elections.

Candidates issued with Orders of Suspension of Proclamation will not be proclaimed despite winning the position they were vying for.

Here are the candidates issued with the orders and the positions they ran for:

  • - Darwin Sia – Board Member, Manila City 2nd District
  • - Gerardo Angala Noveras, Christine Marie Manuson Noveras – Vice-Governor, Aurora
  • - Pilipinas Babangon Muli (PBBM) – Party-list
  • - Philip Raul Fortuno – 5th District Representative, Camarines Sur
  • - James Ronald Macasero – Board Member, Malabon City
  • - Ricardo Yanson – Mayor, Cataingan, Masbate
  • - Matt Erwin Florido – 3rd District Representative, Quezon Province
  • - Fatima Mersa Sali Salih – Mayor, Panglima Sugala, Tawi-tawi
  • - Aquino dabao Romato – Mayor, Sultan Dumalondong, Lanao Del Sur
  • - Belshezzar Abubakar – Mayor, Panglima Esino, Sulu
  • - Marcelino “Marcy” Teodoro – 1st District Representative, Marikina City
  • - Ronald Alarkon Rodriguez – Governor, Camarines Sur
  • - Christian Manuson Noveras – Governor, Aurora
  • - Jerryl Harold Paz Respicio – Vice-mayor, Reina Mercedes, Isabela
  • - Menandro Bessat Buenafe – Councilor, Lagangilang, Abra
  • - Mando Guimbangan Taha – Mayor, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao Del Sur
  • - Dani Taha Mando – Councilor, Sharif Aguak, Maguindanao Del Sur
  • - Isaias Angala Noveras, Jr. – Board Member,  Aurora
  • - Christian De Guzman Sia – Lone District Representative, Pasig City

In a previous interview, Comelec chair George Garcia said that the suspensions of proclamation stand so long that the poll body has yet to have its final decision on the disqualification cases of the candidates.

Before the election day, the Comelec has ordered several candidates to explain allegations of vote-buying, abuse of state resources, or gender-based harassment.
