MANILA — Camille Villar remains part of the administration’s senatorial slate, the Alyansa Para sa Bagong Pilipinas said Friday, amid controversy surrounding the Villar-owned PrimeWater.

“We respect her track record in public service and trust that she, like all our candidates, supports efforts that promote transparency, accountability and the public good,” said Toby Tiangco, the alliance’s campaign manager.

PrimeWater, a water utility firm owned by Camille’s brother Manuel Paulo Villar, has been under scrutiny after a series of complaints over its allegedly poor water service.

The company operates in multiple areas, including Batangas, Cavite, Bulacan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Cabanatuan, Tarlac, Camarines Norte and Subic.

On April 30, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered an investigation into the water utility firm. A House representative has also sought a probe into it.

Alyansa echoed the call for an investigation into PrimeWater, saying: "Clean and reliable water is a basic need, and any service issues must be reviewed fairly and with urgency."

Vice President Sara Duterte, meanwhile, claimed the probe was politically motivated due to her endorsement of Villar.
