MANILA — The government will now rush to deliver “immediate solutions” that will be “felt by the public,” President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said on Monday.

Marcos issued the statement a week after the Philippines’ 2025 midterm elections, where only 5 of the 12 candidates in the administration ticket won seats in the Senate race.

The recent midterm elections showed that only 5 of the administration-backed senatorial candidates clinched seats despite the ruling coalition having big political names and machinery.

“Ngayon, talagang mamadaliin na namin ‘yung immediate solutions na puwedeng gawin kaagad at ‘yun ang aming – ‘yun ang mararamdaman ng taong-bayan mula ngayon,” Marcos Jr. said in the first episode of his podcast.

“Lagi kaming nakikinig sa kanilang hinaing, sa kanilang nagiging problema at hinahanapan natin ng long-term solutions,” he added.

In the same video, Marcos Jr. admitted that the election results showed that the public is “disappointed with the government.”

POLICY CHANGE

The government is set to change several policies to improve the peace and order situation in communities, he said.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and the Philippine National Police (PNP) have been instructed to deploy more roving patrols and personnel in communities, Marcos Jr. said.

“‘Pag may pumutok dito, may tatakbo na ‘yan – wala pang five minutes, may tatakbo na rito diyan na tinatanong kung ano ‘yung nangyari dito,” the President said.

“‘Yun ang dapat na mangyari… Visibility,” he added.

Marcos Jr. said he has also ordered for queues in transportation hubs to be shortened by removing several bottlenecks in entry points of train stations and airports.

“‘Yung mga hindi na kailangan doon, ‘yung pinagpipilahan, mga security check, mga kung ano-ano, wala ng – hindi na kasama sa ano ‘yan pagsakay... Tinanggal niya (Transportation secretary) lahat. Oh ‘di nabawasan ‘yung pila,” he said.

“So ngayon, in the same vein, iyon na nga part of the lesson of these elections, let's go back to – ‘yung sa grassroots level na  kung inaalala ng tao, sinasabi, nagbabalikan dito, asikasuhin natin,” Marcos Jr. added.

A performance review is underway to assess if high-ranking officials in the administration are delivering results, the President said.

“Tama na ‘yung mga magagandang paliwanag with the good statistics at ‘yung mga kung ano-anong mga drawing. Basta gawin na lang,” he said.

“Yun ang – ‘yun actually, that's the lesson we learned from this election. Don't explain it to us anymore. Just do it.”
