MANILA — Civil Service Commission Chair Marilyn Barua-Yap on Friday debunked a claim by the Duterte Youth party-list saying she had submitted her courtesy resignation.

In a short statement, Yap said she did not resign and that there was no reason for her to submit a courtesy resignation as President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Thursday directed Cabinet officials to do.

“The recent directive of the President requesting the resignation of his Cabinet Secretaries does not apply to me, as I am not a member of the Cabinet nor am I under the executive branch’s direct control,” she said.

The Civil Service Commission is an independent body created by the 1987 Constitution.

The Duterte Youth party-list, whose proclamation has been suspended pending the resolution of a disqualification case, claimed that Barua-Yap had filed her courtesy resgination even if the CSC is not covered by the order.

“Why then is Comelec Chairman Garcia not subscribing to the Wisdom of the President in his Call to resign?” the group said.

The party-list group has accused Garcia of politicking through the Comelec's suspension of its proclamation as the poll body resolves a petition questioning Duterte Youth's accreditation.
