MANILA -- President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. directed several officers of Government-owned or Controlled Corporations (GOCCs) Governing Boards to submit their courtesy resignations, days after it called for a Cabinet cleansing.

In a notice dated May 26, Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) Chairperson Atty. Marius Corpus together with Commissioners Atty. Brian Keith Hosaka and Atty. Geraldine Berberabe-Martinez directed all Non Ex-Officio Chairpersons, Chief Executive Officers and all appointive Directors/Trustees/Members of the GOCC Governing Boards to immediately submit their courtesy resignations as ordered by the President.

The commission also stated in the notice that the GOCC Governing Boards "constitute the State's direct representatives in, and shall be directly accountable for the State for, the governance and operations of GOCCs."

"The affected officers are reminded that until any action is taken by the Office of the President on such courtesy resignation, they shall continue to report for work and perform their usual duties and functions subject to any further directives that the Office of the President may deem proper," according to the notice.

An addendum was issued by the GCG on May 28 to "facilitate a more efficient process" in submitting the courtesy resignations.
