MANILA — A survey of Social Weather Stations (SWS) commissioned by Stratbase Group showed that majority of Filipinos believe Vice President Sara Duterte should "address the impeachment charges filed against her" to clear her name, among other findings.

SWS conducted the survey from May 2 to 6, with 1,800 registered voters as respondents.

'OPINIONS' ON VP SARA

One part of the SWS survey was dedicated on "opinion on whether VP Sara Duterte should or should not do selected actions after the May elections."

Stratbase said "one of the key findings of the survey is that 93 percent believe that Vice President Sara Duterte must work to prioritize the country’s needs while 88 percent of respondents insists the Vice President must address the impeachment charges filed against her and answer all allegations pertaining to corruption to clear her name."

Other "opinions" the respondents were asked were whether Duterte should "focus on implementing her own platforms and policies"; "stop politicizing"; and "step back from criticizing government."

Stratbase did not indicate who crafted the "selected actions" the respondents were asked to answer.

Stratbase said the SWS survey showed "86 percent percent of the respondents would like Duterte to focus on implementing her own platforms and policies, 81 percent would want to continue her duties and stop politicizing, and 74 percent prefer her to stop criticizing the government and its initiatives."

"Prominent leaders like the Vice President should look past politics and personal interests, and respond to the people’s call for transparency. It is about time for her to answer all the allegations filed against her,” Stratbase Group president Dindo Manhit said in their press release.

A separate Pulse Asia survey meanwhile showed that more Filipinos disagree with the impeachment complaint against Duterte.

Based on the survey conducted from May 6 to 9, 2025, half of the respondents disagree with the House of Representatives’ filing of the impeachment complaint against Duterte, while only 28 percent agree with it.

The SWS survey also showed that 84 percent of Filipinos look forward to better access to healthcare services, and 81 percent call for better food security and agricultural development.

The respondents also believe Filipino leaders must focus on development of infrastructure (80 percent), climate resilience and protection of natural resources (70 percent), national security and defense in the West Philippine Sea (76 percent), and the management of inflation (62 percent).

"These six issues are what the Filipino people are hopeful for President Marcos Jr. and his administration to accomplish," Stratbase said.
