'Day of reckoning': Napolcom to decide on vlogger cop’s case despite resignation

<p>The National Police Commission is set to deliberate and make a decision this week on the administrative charges against resigned Patrolman Francis Steve Fontillas, the vlogger cop who derided President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.</p><p>Napolcom Vice-Chairperson and Executive Officer Atty. Ralph Calinisan said the administrative cases of grave misconduct and conduct unbecoming of a police officer against Fontillas will continue despite his resignation.  </p><p>&quot;He was accorded due process and was given an opportunity to be heard. His day of reckoning is near,&quot; Calinisan said.</p><p>“Resignation is no escape to administrative, even criminal, culpability. If dismissal is imposed on him, alongside is his perpetual disqualification to hold any government position.&quot;</p><p>Fontillas is facing criminal and administrative cases for his online tirades against President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. over the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte.</p><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hSfMcDwI0eM?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><p>His latest post involves a shared video about a supposed scuffle between anti-riot police officers and activists on Labor Day.</p><p>The Quezon City Police District earlier said Fontillas exhibited <a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/3/22/qcpd-official-cop-who-threatened-marcos-interpol-icc-had-mood-swing-issues-2120">mood swings</a> dating back to 2023. </p><p>It confirmed Fontillas officially resigned from the Philippine National Police effective April 10, 2025.</p><p>The irrevocable resignation was approved by National Capital Region Police Office chief Police Major General Anthony Aberin.</p><p>“As such, he no longer holds any position or affiliation with the PNP.
