MANILA — After 16 campaign sorties as a slate, members of the Alyansa Para Sa Bagong Pilipinas senatorial ticket paid tribute to the support and endorsement given to them by President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

Former Senate President Vicente Sotto III said Marcos' endorsement — and scrutiny — of the administration candidates has been a big help to them.

"Makikita mo siguro sa labing dalawa, wala hong walang nagawa di ba? Wala hong masamang ano ika nga, record," he said.

(You will see that among the 12, there are no candidates who have not accomplished anything. No candidates with bad records)

He said Marcos Jr.'s endorsement would mean that his supporters would consider the Alyansa candidates' track records and experience in deciding who to vote for next Monday.

"So malaking bagay yon, malaking tulong sa amin ‘yon. Iba ‘yong pangulo ng Pilipinas ang naniniwala sayo—napakahalaga," Sotto said.

(That is a big thing, a big help. It's different when the President believes in you — that's very valuable)

ALL OUT SUPPORT

Former Sen. Panfilo Lacson said he is also grateful for Marcos Jr.'s support, adding he had "never experienced" the level of support that the President has given during the campaign.

"Imagine, risking his own security ‘no. Dumadalo even open areas nandoon siya, vulnerable ‘yong kanyang physical security pero nandoon pa rin siya. And he stayed with us all the way from start to finish," he said.

He echoed Sotto's sentiment that Marcos Jr. had screened the candidates of the slate, adding the Alyansa bets did not volunteer to run in the slate.

"Talagang pinili nila na kami ang mapasama doon sa slate. ‘Yan ang isang masasabi ko. So, the mere fact na pinili kami at kinakampanya kami, napakalaking bagay para sa amin ‘yon," he said.

(They really picked us for the lsate. That is what I can say. So the mere fact that he picked us and capaigned for us, that is a big deal to us.)

'PERFECT TIME TO PEAK'

ACT-CIS Rep. Erwin Tulfo meanwhile credited high survey scores to Marcos Jr.'s presence at the rallies, noting most Alyansa bets are at the top of pre-election polls.

"So what does it tell you? Ibig sabihin, magaling mag-kampanya ‘yong pangulo because majority ng sa kanyang line-up ay pasok doon sa Alyansa dito sa pinipili ng mga tao. Ibig sabihin tama lang ‘yong kanyang pinili," he said.

(That means the President campaigns well, because majority of the line-up is doing well on surveys. That means he picked well)

The three candidates also noted that they are capping the campaign finishing very well in the pre-election surveys, with Lacson, who is forecast to be among the 12 elected senator, saying it is a "perfect time to peak"

Tulfo, who is seen to top the race on Monday, said he is glad his ranking went back up after dipping in previous weeks.

"Ibig sabihin tinitignan ng mga tao, tama ‘yong sinasabi ng Pangulo pinili po namin itong may mga experience. Hindi po tinitignan ng mga botante na, Alyansa, ano ba ang gagawin? Individual e, pansinin ninyo. May nagawa na ba ito?" he said.

(That means the President is right that people are choosing those with experience. People are not looking at whether a candidate is Alyansa but also as an individual, what has this candidate already done?)

Sotto, meanwhile, said that elections are also a matter of divine guidance.

"Those who will win on Monday and will have the votes of the people, definitely be ordained by God. Walang mananalo doon na hindi ginusto ng Panginoon na manalo. Kaya tingin ko kung ganon ang trajectory ng Alyansa, salamat sa Panginoon."

(Nobody will win that God doesn't want to. That's why, looking at the trajectory of Alyansa, I have to say thanks to God)
