MANILA — Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon appealed to motorists to cooperate with the implementation of the No Contact Apprehension Policy on major thoroughfares in Metro Manila.

He noted that while the assessment of its implementation was “good,” many are still trying to cheat the policy.

“Maganda naman ang naging unang linggo. Marami nang mga sumusunod pero marami pa ring mga nangdaraya,” Dizon said in a chance interview after Marcos Jr. and the First Family rode MRT-3 for the launching of “Pamilya Pass Promo” Sunday, June 1.

Dizon called on the public to follow and cooperate as the government continues to improve the implementation of the policy.

“Cooperation na ‘yan ng mga kababayan natin,” Dizon added.

(It is also on the public to cooperate)

Earlier, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority warned motorists that covering their license plates to avoid detection under the NCAP will earn them fines.

PROTEST SET FOR MONDAY

Motorcycle group Kapatiran sa Dalawang Gulong, or Kagulong, has planned a protest caravan against NCAP on Monday saying implementation of NCAP needs further study.

It also said that government must fix roads as well as signs and lane markings that it said add to confusion on the road before telling the public to comply.

It said Sunday that the protest would push through on Monday as it called on President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to suspend the program.

"Dapat isunod ni BBM ang pagpapatigil ng implementasyon ng NCAP para magbigay daan sa pagsasaayos sa mga imprastraktura ng ating mga kalsada upang maging ligtas at patas ito sa lahat ng mga motorista at iba pang road users," Kagulong said in response to news that the EDSA rehabilitation program has been suspended.

(Marcos Jr. should also stop implementation of NCAP to give way to fixing infrastructure on our roads so that motorists and other road users are safe and are treated equally)
