MANILA — Amid the recent movement in the impeachment proceedings of Vice President Sara Duterte, Malacañang reiterated Wednesday that President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr. is more focused on addressing the more pressing concerns of the public.

While Castro said that Malacañang is leaving it to the Senate to decide the fate of the impeachment trial, it will ultimately be the public who will judge whether the senator-judges made the right choice.

"Makikita ng taumbayan kung sino ang sumusunod sa procedure, o sino ang naglalaro sa procedure, para makaiwas o matuloy ang impeachment trial," she said.

The Senate on Tuesday voted to return to the House of Representatives the impeachment complaint against Duterte that was transmitted to the upper chamber in February.

The Senate, as impeachment court, asked the House to "certify" that the complaint did not violate the Constitution.

The Palace reminded officials to follow the Constitution and not to toy with procedure and the rule of law, citing the need to ensure that public servants remain accountable and transparent.
