“Naapektuhan po ang Filipino Center, yung AP Center, yung aming library. Nandun ang aming mga computers, yung laptops ng mga teachers kasi prepared na dapat sila sa pagpasok ngayon. Yung activity sheets, lesson plans nila, mga books and conference hall na nagiisa, wala na po,” SFHS Principal Dr. Marissa Rodriguez said.

This school year was supposed to be the first time senior high schools students will experience a single shift. However, the incident has forced the school to retain a double shift to allow some 640 students, whose classrooms were razed by fire, to use classrooms in another building.

“We are scouting our secondary schools na may sobrang upuan na pwedeng maibigay dito. Nakapagrepair na rin sila through Brigada Eskwela. May ibang mga silya na pwedeng ibigay,” she said.

“In terms of equipment kagaya ng computer at laptop, meron naman tayong provision na pondo na pwedeng laanan para matulungang yung paaralan na maibalik. Yung mga modules po may buffers naman na available na pwedeng ibigay sa mga bata. Yung mga learning kits naman hindi naman na-damage, so immediately mabibigay naman.”

A conservative estimate pegs damage to be at P3 million. Sedilla says it will increase as the Bureau of Fire Protection completes its investigation and a full inventory of damage is made.

On Monday, several trucks loaded with school chairs arrived at SFHS. Temporary classrooms in the senior high school building were also cleaned by local government personnel. School officials say these are expected to be ready for use by students on Tuesday.
