MANILA — Malacañang on Monday urged government officials not to share mis- and disinformation online, after Senator Bato Dela Rosa was criticized for sharing an AI-generated video on his official Facebook page.

The AI video depicted a made-up street interview of Filipino "students" expressing support for Vice President Sara Duterte amid her impending impeachment trial.

The senator lauded the “students” for understanding the real situation.

Despite the online ridicule and criticism, the lawmaker has yet to delete the AI video.

The Palace official said that government officials should be responsible in posting information online.

Castro added that while there is no need for the lawmaker to apologize, Dela Rosa should at least acknowledge that the video he shared was not real but AI-generated.
