MANILA — Tough-talking vlogger Francis Steve Fontillas, a former police patrolman, has been arrested following scathing social media posts critical of the government and police leadership.

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said the 31-year-old former policeman was arrested on Monday by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 224 for inciting to sedition charges in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act.

Bail was recommended at P36,000.

“May warrant siya eh. So, the warrant has to be implemented,” Philippine National Police Chief Gen. Nicolas Torre III told reporters when asked about the case.

The complaint against filed against Fontillas stemmed from his alleged seditious statements on Facebook from March 12 to 13, in which he supposedly threatened to topple the government and threatened Interpol, while wearing a police uniform, the NCRPO added.

“Said postings went viral and caused unrest in the community,” the NCRPO said.

Earlier, Fontillas lashed out over the arrest of former President Rodrigo Duterte, who is facing crimes against humanity charges before the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Fontillas added that would wage "war" against the ICC and Interpol if they tried to "lay [a] finger" on Duterte.

The ex-cop added that he could arrest President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. once the latter is no longer in office. He said he would never obey the President or anyone who gives him a wrong order.

The Quezon City Police District later filed charges of inciting to sedition in relation to the Cybercrime Prevention Act against Fontillas.

Torre said Fontillas was an isolated case within the police organization.

“Well, I would like to think na si Fontillas is just a very, very small exception—an aberration to the organization. We have 220,000 people; siya lang naman mag-isa ang gumawa no’n at wala naman iba,” Torre said.

“I don’t think that he has any following in the PNP, kaya no need to warn or whatever i-remind ang ating mga tauhan. Alam na natin ’yan—professional ang PNP,” he added.

In an earlier interview with ABS-CBN News, Fontillas argued that his remarks did not constitute inciting to sedition and he was merely expressing his opinions on Duterte’s arrest.
