MANILA -- The sharing of artificial intelligence-generated content against Vice President Sara Duterte’s impeachment trial is considered propagation of a lie, according to Atty. Antonio Audie Bucoy, the spokesperson for the prosecution team.

He issued the statement after Duterte ally, Senator-judge Ronald dela Rosa, was criticized for sharing an AI video showing young Filipinos speaking against the Vice President’s impeachment.

The Vice President on Monday said she sees “no problem” with the use or sharing of AI-produced videos that seek to support her, provided that these are not being used as a business model.

“Kung alam ni Sen. dela Rosa na fake ‘yun, he’s propagating a lie. The message doesn’t matter. If the source is fake, how can you rely on the message? Kung polluted ‘yung source, eh 'di polluted ang message. So, pure propaganda. It only emphasizes the bias,” Bucoy said.

For House Assistant Majority Leader and Lanao del Sur 1st District Representative Zia Alonto Adiong, the move may be considered disrespecting the public’s right to know the truth.

“By an official who’s been sharing AI-generated clip, that somehow misinform the public, is to me worrisome siya. Kasi unang-una, as public officials.. we also have to be the source of truth and right information,” he said.

“‘Pag ang binibigay mo sa publiko ay mali, ito ay isang disrespect sa kanilang karapatan na malaman ang totoo,” Adiong added.
