The lawmaker made the remark on the sidelines of the wreath-laying ceremony for the 164th birth anniversary of national hero Dr. Jose Rizal at Rizal Park in Luneta.

"Hinabaan 'yung number of years ng pag-aaral ng mga estudyante, tapos ngayon ang pinoproblema paano magti-trim ng subjects, paano magti-trim ng class hours. Kaya mas mabuti pa, ibasura na ng susunod na Kongreso ang K-12 program," Manuel told ABS-CBN News.
"Hinabaan 'yung number of years ng pag-aaral ng mga estudyante, tapos ngayon ang pinoproblema paano magti-trim ng subjects, paano magti-trim ng class hours. Kaya mas mabuti pa, ibasura na ng susunod na Kongreso ang K-12 program," Manuel told ABS-CBN News.
"Ayusin yung curriculum, tiyakin na aligned yun sa paglikha ng mga trabaho din dito sa atin. Para yung graduates ng basic education ay meron talagang magandang prospects dito sa ating bansa at hindi mapilitan halimbawa, mangibang bansa dahil pinaasa sila na after K-12 ay pwede na daw silang magtrabaho," he added.

Manuel said they had long flagged the issues of implementing the K-12 program, which they believe did not solve the issues in the education center.

"Nalulungkot ako na naging totoo yung mga sinabi natin noong 2013 na hindi talaga dapat natuloy yung K-12 program. Doon palang sinabi natin na magiging palpak siya kasi di naman tinutugunan yung mga problema talaga kagaya ng classrooms, kakulangan ng resources, lack of support sa ating mga teachers kaya pinagdaanan pa natin lahat ng ‘to bago masabi na palpak talaga siya," he said.
