MANILA — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Wednesday deployed buses to carry passengers amid the limited operations of LRT-2 due to a "power issue."

"Ang mga bus ay libreng magsasakay ng mga pasahero mula Antipolo Station hanggang Araneta Center–Cubao station," the MMDA said.

"Samantala, nagpapatuloy ang libreng sakay para sa mga pasahero ng LRT-2 mula Araneta Center–Cubao station hanggang Recto Station," it added.

Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said the incident began around 3:30 a.m. when Trainset 9 experienced a power supply problem while in transit for deployment.

LRT-2 failed to begin trips on time after a train stalled in the Katipunan area and had to be hauled. Partial operations started at 6 a.m. instead of the scheduled 5 a.m. opening.

Passengers were allowed to enter Araneta-Cubao Station at around 6:45 a.m., as limited operations began on the Recto-Cubao segment.

Meanwhile, service between Cubao and Antipolo remained suspended while repairs are underway.
