I think maganda ang takbo itong last year. Walang perfect kasi na majority, walang perfect na senador, Senate President. But pagka nakita mong may energy, may vision, may prinsipyo,” Cayetano said on Thursday.</p><p>“Kung today ang election, he has more than 13,” he added.</p><p>There are 24 senators in total.</p><p>Cayetano was quick to add, however, that anything can still happen between now and the opening of the 20th Congress on July 28.</p><p>Aside from Escudero, former Senate President and incoming Sen. Tito Sotto has also expressed willingness to be the next leader of the upper chamber.</p><div><a href="https://www.abs-cbn.com/news/nation/2025/5/14/sotto-willing-to-accept-senate-presidency-if-there-are-enough-numbers-1428">Sotto willing to accept Senate Presidency if there are &#x27;enough numbers&#x27;</a></div><p>Cayetano said he has only talked to Escudero about the coveted position.</p><p>He mentioned Sen. Imee Marcos has previously stated she is available, but she has not talked to him.</p><p>“To be fair to Senator Imee, hindi siya actively nagka-campaign. Pero pag sinabi mong available ka, it doesn&#x27;t happen madalas, pero sometimes nangyayari na yung dose pupunta sa iyo. But I think right now, medyo comfortable yung majority ni Senate President Escudero. Ang question lang is time,” Cayetano mentioned. </p><p>As for the position of Majority Floor Leader, Cayetano said the logical choice is Senator Joel Villanueva.</p><p>Asked about committee chairmanships, Cayetano replied he is open to committees which need lawyers.</p><p>“Ang sabi ko lang kay Senate President, basta&#x27;t lahat ng pang-abogado, available ako.
