MANILA — The Land Transportation Office has issued show-cause orders to 205 driving schools for passing student drivers who did not meet minimum requirements, and other violations. 

The LTO alleged the driving schools also tampered with the computer system to accommodate more student drivers than the daily limit.

The agency explained that some driving schools would provide its clients with certificates for the Theoretical Driving Course and Practical Driving Course even if they didn't complete the courses or did not even show up.

The certificates are required when applying for a driver’s license.

LTO will also order 88 district office heads to explain why the offenses were “tolerated” or not immediately addressed. 

“Nagbabala tayo noon pa na hindi na puwede ngayon ang mga kalokohang ganito dahil buhay ng mga road users ang nakataya dito. Under the watch of (Transportation) Secretary (Vince) Dizon, nakuha natin ang buong suporta upang maging mas agresibo laban sa mga taong nasa likod nito,” said Asec Mendoza.

On June 6, LTO has also asked 40 LTO district office heads to explain the illegal transfer of ownership of motor vehicles confiscated in police operations.
